Autism & the Raw Food Diet: A Recipe for Success?

Raw Food Diet & Autism

On a recent trip to Southern California, I had the occasion to be driving on a freeway when I encountered a billboard bearing a startling statistic. “Every 20 minutes another child is diagnosed with Autism.” I am sure a lot of people are aware of this but I could not help but be moved by this statement and the apparent increase in occurrence that is happening in today’s society. As a child I don’t recall having encountered many if any kids at all that I was aware of that either had autism or some related disorder. Much like many other things that seem to be more prevalent in the modern society and on the rise I began to suspect commonality of cause (environment) with many other similar situations. Having become a raw vegan a few years back, I have seen both a profound transformation personally as well in many others that I have encountered and followed on their journey to improved health physically, mentally, emotionally etc.

Essentially having been through something of a transformation myself and realizing that much of what afflicted meand others chronically and acutely could be attributed to issues related to toxicity and nutrition (or lack thereof). I decided to some research utilizing a number of trusted resources in the field of nutrition, alternative medicine and wellness as well as those I personally have known that have made a living promoting healthier living through what is principally a raw food or living foods diet/lifestyle. What I have found begs to offer both hope and inspiration to many who are presently seeking alternative treatments and options where autism and related disorders are concerned.

Simply googleing Autism and raw food produced an incredible wealth of information suggesting that there are many who have experienced profound and often great results by making a lifestyle change that incorporates living foods and in particular algae supplementation while eliminating the toxicity associates with industrial foods as well as the many other “modern” household products we encounter.
Additionally and in particular it became apparent that one widespread form of toxicity, metals specifically, are often overlooked and misdiagnosed. At the same time this form of toxicity is all around us in our daily lives. Even those that have chosen to closely monitor their lifestyle with acute consideration given to avoiding toxicity are very often found to have much higher than ideal levels of metals in their system. In many respects it’s unavoidable and we all come in contact with it. It’s my opinion that all of us, not just those with apparent physiologicalsymptoms should on an ongoing basis include a plan for detoxing and rebuilding of minerals with a keen eye on metal toxicity as one of a number of major concerns and focus.

I can’t stress enough that a lifestyle change that is directed toward s the reduction of toxicity while providing true nutrition should absolutely be considered as a treatment. Regardless of what your opinion might be, these areas are certainly going to be assistive in any program. I would strongly suggest doing the research here. Be aware of the great many opinions regarding a raw food diet/lifestyle. Allow me to assure you there are a great many success stories out there. Negative viewpoints or opinions about this lifestyle (such as a b12 deficiency etc.) are somewhat misplaced in that all diets, and I do mean all diets have some form of deficiency. We all have deficiencies and very often hugely profound deficiencies that lead to imbalances, acidity and chronic disease over time etc. Don’t allow these opinions to derail your research. Be as balanced in your assessment as you should be in your diet.

Is this the possible cure all for autism or any related disorders? Of course not but it certainly represents a great starting point in unraveling any health issue in that removing toxicity and providing the best possible nutritional program will in most cases produce results and likely improve any treatment program aside from those that appear to believe that our children suffer from a pharmaceutical deficiency of some kind. They must believe this because they seem insistent that this is what we need.
