As I am listening to the New York Times segment called Patient Voices: Autism, I find myself surprised as these mothers talk about receiving an autism diagnosis for their children while simultaneously discussing their own revelations of having autism.

These are people in their 40s whose pediatricians let them know that their child isn’t the only one with an autism spectrum disorder, that they too have been living with this, unbeknownst to them.

I wonder what percentage of children with autism have parents on the spectrum as well.
